ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Garment Presser to join our flagship atelier located on Madison Avenue. This role is essential for upholding our standards of craftsmanship. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional pressing skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring that each piece adheres to our luxury standards before client fittings and final delivery. This includes, but is not limited to, expectations related to hand sewing, quality control, and the handling of an industrial iron.  

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum of 2 years of pressing and steaming experience within luxury evening gowns, bridal alterations, or dry-cleaning environments 
  • Specialty in handling delicate and complex materials, including lace, tulle, satin, structured skirts, and skirt trains 
  • Skilled in spot cleaning and stain treatment with care and precision 
  • Experience in operating industrial pressing equipment 
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to garment quality and finishing 
  • Professional, respectful communicator who thrives in a collaborative atelier environment 
  • Flexible availability to work 8+ hour shifts, including evenings and weekends, based on business needs 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Press and steam garments for client fittings and final pick up 
  • Conduct quality control inspections of garments received from seamstresses and alterations team 
  • Perform hand sewing as needed, including lace application, embroidery, sequins, and notions 
  • Clean and treat stains in accordance with established atelier procedures 
  • Maintain a consistent and efficient workflow of pressed garments in a fast-paced environment 
  • Safely handle heavy garments and long skirt trains with precision and care 

A reasonable estimate of the current hourly rate is $20.00-$23.00, annualized from $41,600 - $47,840. The rate of pay offered may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. 

NOTE: If chosen to interview, you will be required to interview in person and demonstrate pressing and garment finishing skills.
